I am the senior leader, reporting to the owner of our parent company Brown’s Dining Solutions, of the largest independently owned food service contractor in Canada focusing on the Seniors industry. I have 2 district managers, 400 employees who report to me and I do everything from Human Resources, Labour Relations, Client Relations, Sales/ Business Development, Policy Development, the list never ends!

Why did you decide to pursue a career in food?
At a very young age I loved to cook, I would cook dinners for my family, I went on to Chef school reached my dream, and then wanted to move beyond the kitchen
Top 3 advice tips for students and new grads coming into the industry –
- Learn from your early jobs, I constantly hire people that started at McDonalds and value the training they got
- Don’t think of food service as a temporary job to pay for school, it is a great profession with lots of possibilities
- Be prepared to start at the bottom and work your way up!
Tell us why your Food Job Rocks?
I, and my team, are responsible for feeding 3000 Seniors in long term care and retirement homes everyday! To see them enjoy a meal makes it all worthwhile! My career in food service has allowed me to travel around Canada, work in the Middle East, its been really cool!
